Well Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter have passed since I last posted.
Bill and I are in Dubai again. We returned from Doha March 1st.
I was able to go back to Texas for three weeks right before Christmas. It was nice to be able to see family. My sister had family over and made turkey and dressing and all the holiday fixings. That is my all time favorite meal.
I returned to Doha on December 23rd very late at night. So, Bill and I went to the Ritz Carlton in Doha for Christmas Eve dinner and it was good but not as good as Brenda's turkey and dressing.
After our return to Dubai we have gotten back into the swing of Dubai life. We went to the new Burj Kahlifa (the worlds tallest building) with friends. It is incredible. You can see for miles and miles. They also, opened the new Armani Hotel and Restaurants inside the Burj Kahlifa. The cost for dinner or even to reserve a table in the bar is way out of our price range. We will have to read about it in the local papers.
Bill and I were able to sneak in a trip to Texas in April for a couple of weeks. We had planned on stopping in Paris for a week on our way back to Dubai. Thanks to that crazy volcano, we had to go back directly to Dubai. We will have to go to Paris some other time.
Once we were back we found out that several of our friends have been laid off work. The sad news is that a lot of our friends are leaving Dubai. The building of new projects here has come to a stand still. It is the end of a chapter of our life. We are not sure if we will be in Dubai or Doha or if we will be going back to the USA. The reason that Bill and I have enjoyed Dubai so much is because of the wonderful friends we have made. When you live in a country where you are the foreigner you reach out to other foreigners. These people have become like family to us and it breaks my heart to have to say goodbye.
